- Advantages :
This little outdoor video surveillance camera is a little gem. I hesitated for a long time
I hesitated for a long time in the choice of my video surveillance installation and since I discovered the
Blink products, I am under the spell. Already the owner of a Blink mini, I had the opportunity to test this
Blink Outdoor and to add it to my video surveillance system. I am very happy with it, this camera works
I am very happy with it, this camera works really well, and for this price it is really a very good surprise:
Presentation and description of the Blink Outdoor:
The camera is very contained in size and comes with an articulated wall mount. It is powered by
by AA lithium batteries offering according to the manufacturer up to two years of autonomy, and allowing
the installation of the camera or you will seem. Access to the battery compartment is protected by a seal to ensure
a seal to ensure watertightness, as well as the micro-usb connector (port present on the camera
and I still do not know the use of it).
Totally waterproof, the Blink Outdoor films in HD 1080p, it has a motion detector,
a night vision by infrared. The installation of the camera is very simple: everything is done via
the Blink application. Just scan a flash code under the camera and follow the instructions to add it to your
add it to your wifi network and to the various settings.
The application also allows a large number of settings :
. Detection and exclusion zone (up to 6m max).
. Automatic picture taking (timelaps) with adjustable frequency (every 15min-30min-1h etc..).
. Remote voice interaction (intercom).
. Management of backups.
. And so on...
The image quality is good despite a slight "fish eye" effect (round distortion of the image due to the
lens). It is possible to zoom on the liveview (real time vision) but the camera being in 1080p the
rendering is rather average however sufficient for surveillance. The night vision is very good.
The silhouettes are very distinct, and the contrast even at night is really good. Beware
However, beware of light artifacts due to the infrared system of the camera (especially if you install the
the camera without its mounting bracket). The announced angle of vision is 110°, which is still quite low
in view of the competition; personally, this suits me well for covering the area I want to protect (a front of the house
protect (a front of house: porch + garden).
The camera is delivered with the Sync2 Synchronization module that allows you to manage several cameras and a local backup.
of several cameras, a local backup of your videos through a USB port. An auto-backup
will be performed every 24 hours to save your clips and images. Once the backups are done
you can copy and edit them on your computer, convenient to keep a complete archive
locally. A subscription system in the cloud is also available but I am not a subscriber so I don't have
subscribed to it and so I was not able to test this feature. Just as I could not test
the waterproofing of the camera, mine being outside but under a porch so sheltered from water and
wind.
-Disadvantages : First problem, the clip system makes the theft of the camera very
simple... For an outdoor camera it is not great.
Second problem the product announces a local USB storage on the sync module 2 box. Except that in fact
In fact, if you no longer have an internet connection, nothing is recorded on the USB key of the sync module. This
is no longer a local storage but a local backup of the cloud once a day ...
From what I understand the images are saved first in the cloud, then once a day
the images from the cloud are saved on the usb key of the sync module 2.
So without internet connection the camera does not record anything!
